How Parents/Carers can help
There is a wide range of options for Post 16 study with the Government recently introducing a host of new qualifications. Parents/Carers can support their child by finding out about the different options available to them. Students may feel unable to think beyond their GCSE exams, however deadlines approach quickly in the Spring Term for applications and students will need the support of their parents/careers in meeting these.
The school is always here to help, therefore if you have any questions about the next stage of your child’s education please give us a call or send us an email and we will be pleased to support you.
What the school will do
- Provide students and families with a Post-16 Information Evening
- Provide each child with a careers meeting
- Meet with each child to discuss their Post-16 options
- Send the Parent/Carer Post-16 guide home
SEND Support
Moving on from secondary school either to St Edward’s Sixth Form or another institution is an exciting phase for your child full of anticipation and hope. For children with a SEND need, the SEND team will work closely with the child and family to ensure the most suitable Further Education option is chosen.
For some students, we can arrange taster days to trial different courses to ensure they are confident in their next steps. At every step of the way the SEND Team will be available to discuss the different options available to your child.
