About the Course
You will develop greater understanding of biological facts together with an appreciation of their significance in new and changing situations. You will develop greater expertise in the area of practical work and the link between theory and experimental work. You will continue to enjoy and further develop a personal interest in the study of living organisms.
You will examine the recognition of the responsible use of Biology in society and the awareness of developments in Biology in an ever changing world.
It is expected that students will have achieved a GCSE Grade 6 or above in both Combined Science or Grade 6 in Biology and another Science. During the course, students will be expected to handle and interpret data so it is also expected that students will have achieved a GCSE Grade 5 minimum in Mathematics.

- Paper 1: Assessed on any content from topics 1– 4, including relevant practical skills (35% of A-Level)
- Paper 2: Assessed on any content from topics 5– 8, including relevant practical skills (35% of A-Level)
- Paper 3: Assessed on any content from topics 1– 8, including relevant practical skills (30% of A-Level)
Follow a degree course in Biology, Environmental Science, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Psychology or Pharmacy.
It can also be used to support applications for Higher Education courses in non-scientific subjects. Employment in the area of the health professions, biotechnology, catering, and land management.
