Design and create book in Microsoft Publisher.
Four Piece Puzzle Project
Exciting design & make puzzle project that also gives the opportunity to understand the properties of the materials we often use in DT.

Year Nine
Autumn
Graphics Shop Design Project
World-of-work graphic design experience. Learn how to create a brand identity. Create designs for a new business that would be commercially viable for their local area: Romford or Barking and Dagenham.
Spring
Acrylic Jewellery Project: CAD/CAM Design
make a marketable product in the form of acrylic jewellery & display packaging. Develop an understanding of the types of plastics/polymers that are in general use, how they are part of our lives and how we must think of sustainable replacements.
Phone Stand Project: Skills & Processes
Design and create a wooden phone stand. Learn about the properties of timber & manufactured board and discover new making processes.
Summer
New & Emerging Technologies: research project: find out about new technologies which are being developed to positively impact the manufacturing industry and society.

An Introduction to Architecture
Design an Alessi-style Product:
Exploring culture and society thorough research, including anthropometrics & ergonomics with a focus on Alessi products.
Spring
Mechanical Toy Project:
Introduction to theory of movement and exploration of a range of materials, their properties & the processes needed to make the product.
Summer
Packaging Project: Explore tessellation
Learn about packaging through deconstruction and theory.
Use CAD to design or adapt or edit nets with complete accuracy.
