St Edward’s Sixth Form offers every student a broad and balanced curriculum which is well suited to their needs, enhanced by a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, trips and visits.

The Sixth Form the curriculum is based around two pathways as well as the ST.E.P programme:

Pathway 1 – A-Levels

Students will be offered a wide range of A-Level subjects that will facilitate their entrance to leading Universities or equip them for their chosen career field.

Most students take 3 subjects in Year 12 and the most able take 4 throughout the two years.

Pathway 2 – BTEC and A-Levels

Students complete the BTEC in Sport and Exercise Science which is the equivalent of 2 A-Levels or a BTEC in IT which is the equivalent to 1 A-Level. It is designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a variety of different sectors, giving learners the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to prepare them for employment. Students are expected to take a minimum of 1 A-Level in conjunction with this qualification from the list above.

ST.E.P (St Edward’s Enrichment Programme)

In addition to academic studies all students participate in the ST.E.P programme where all students receive a structured course of PSHE, RS, academic guidance and support.

The ST.E.P Programme consists of the following activities and additional qualifications:

  • 40 hours Community Service
  • AS General Studies
  • Study Skills with Elevate Education
  • University Application Process (UCAS)Careers advice programme
  • Academic Mentoring
