Artists Sarah Kogan led an all day workshop on the theme ‘Beginning and/or end,’ which the students have been studying as part of their coursework. The workshop was introduced with the artist talking about using her great uncle’s diaries and sketches made during the 1st World war before he died in battle as a way to develop her own work .
The students were asked to bring in personal objects and photographs which they used to explore and develop responses to events, feelings and emotions they had experienced. All students were a credit to the school as they used the opportunity to respond to the brief in a really creative way; investigating and experimenting with a variety of materials and techniques. Ms Norton, one of the Art teachers, said “I felt really proud to watch them all support each other and respond with final pieces of work that pushed many of them outside of their comfort zones.”
